Everblue, a leading provider of workforce training and certification software, is proud to announce the launch of a new certification program for beekeepers in partnership with the State of North Carolina.

This marks an exciting step forward in apiary education, as the state-developed “Managing Hive Pests Through Pesticide Use” training module is now available through Everblue’s learning management system.

Expanding Access to Science-Based Beekeeper Training

This comprehensive online course:

  • Is offered in both English and Spanish
  • Empowers beekeepers and inspectors with essential knowledge to protect hive health through effective, responsible pest management
  • Focuses on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies, including monitoring techniques for Varroa mites and other common pests like Small Hive Beetles
  • Guides participants on responsible pesticide use, including label interpretation, safe application methods, and long-term best practices for hive health

Supporting Healthier Hives Through Practical Education

“We’re proud to make this program widely accessible and support the expansion of beekeeper certification across the state — and eventually into other states as well,” said Ian O’Brien, exams director at Everblue.

“Our goal is to equip beekeepers with practical, science-based tools that promote healthier hives and more sustainable practices.”

Building Toward a National Standard for Hive Pest Management

This new certification aligns with North Carolina’s long-term vision of expanding beekeeper training opportunities to other states, establishing a national standard for responsible hive pest management.

Registration for the course is available through Everblue.
