The Maryland Department of Agriculture will introduce the option of online pesticide certification exams through a partnership with Everblue, an innovative technology company specializing in digitizing and automating processes.

Bringing Pesticide Certification Exams Online

Using Everblue’s registration and test delivery system, candidates can register online and be immediately enrolled in on-demand exams. After completing a system check, candidates can take their licensure exam from home.

A More Flexible Testing Experience

Previously, candidates were required to test in person on scheduled dates every other month. By digitizing exam content and offering on-demand delivery, the new system provides significantly greater convenience, access, and flexibility.

Improving the Candidate Experience

“Our goal is to simplify the certification process, improve efficiency, and provide a better user experience,” said Chris Boggiano, president of Everblue.

“Taking a state certification exam is already stressful, so we aim to eliminate the inconvenience of scheduling and traveling to a test site. Now it’s as simple as registering, paying, and taking the exam from home when it’s convenient.”

Streamlining Operations for the State

Everblue’s automated workflow also benefits administrators at the Maryland Department of Agriculture. Everblue manages registration and enrollment for online candidates and provides remote proctoring to maintain exam integrity.

Upon completion, test results are reported back to the state, reducing manual workload and administrative burden.

“In essence, the Maryland Department of Agriculture can save time and effort by shifting exam delivery, proctoring, and scoring to Everblue,” Boggiano said. “We’ve seen great success with other state departments of agriculture and expect the same for Maryland.”

Maintaining Traditional Testing Options

Candidates must still apply with the state before registering for an exam. Once approved, they can choose between remote testing with Everblue or the traditional in-person, paper-based option.
